Crazy Hair Night at AWANA

Rosalie wore her hair crazy. I put her hair up in pony tails and braids.
Jonathan wore a tank hat. We made a tank out of a box, an old can, construction paper, and a straw. We had a lot of fun making it ... and he had even more fun wearing it. He put his stuffed frog in the can to ride in the tank!

Martin used cardboard and construction paper to make his hat. I think he called himself the snake ninja man. He put a couple of stuffed snakes in his hat. He did really well making his hat without help!

Aaron made a crazy baseball hat. He covered the box that he used for his hat with red construction paper ... and then started decorating it ... I suggested that he make it a theme hat and paste baseballs to the hat. It turned out great! We had a fun night wearing crazy hair and hats!

The AWANA year has begun!

The AWANA year has begun and we are all so excited to go each Wednesday night! Jonathan has graduated Cubbies and has moved on to Sparks!! This week he received his new vest, bag, and book! He loves being in Sparks with his big brother, Aaron ... and tells me a hundred times a day how much he loves being a Sparky!! I am thankful that I have 2 children with Ms. Amy in Sparks!

I am so honored to be serving as a leader in Cubbies again this year. I don't know how it happened, but Rosalie - my baby - is now with me in Cubbies. It's so hard for me to believe that she is already old enough to be a Cubby! This week she received her Cubbies vest ...

...bag, and book. She LOVES being in Cubbies with Ms. Tara and all the other wonderful Cubbies leaders. She loves AWANA just as much as her brothers and me! (it was crazy hat and hair night, by the way ... another post about that coming soon!)

Aaron is still in Sparks, and he received his new book, and he got a patch this week for me to sew on his vest. Martin is in the 5th and 6th grade segment of Truth and Training. He earned his book and his new shirt this week, but the shirts weren't in yet. He'll get it next week! We are so happy that AWANA is back in session!

Rosalie is a PUGGLE!!

Rosalie is so excited to be an Awana Puggle! Puggles is the Awana club the 2 year old age group. This was the very first thing that Rosalie has ever done apart from me. Yes, I was nervous. We've been talking about it a long time. She already knew that I wouldn't be staying with her. As I started to walk away, she got very nervous and unsure. Mrs. Cindy picked her up and distracted her as I left ... and no tears were shed. She had a great night and has been telling me all about it every day since! She LOVED it. (just as I knew she would)
My sweet girl is super social and loves to be with people ... and will talk anyone's ear off who will listen. I love how much she loved it!

First night of Awana (for us)

Awana started the week after our Disney trip, so we got a late start this year. This past Wednesday night was our first night of the Awana year. It was a much anticipated night for my children for many reasons:
1. We love Awana!
2. It was Rosalie's first night EVER of Awana!
3. We LOVE Awana!
For the very first time, all of the children got to pile into the van and go to church for Awana. Rosalie was so excited that she was able to go too!

She loved putting on her Awana Puggles shirt!

I love how much our children love Awana! I love how hard they work to memorize the scripture verses each week.
I am a Cubbies leader again this year. I get to listen to the Cubbies (Jonathan's age group 3's, 4's, and some young 5's) say the verses that they work on at home. It's my favorite part about Awana, so I am thankful that I get to do it!
